Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Charanda Mexican Grill & Cantina is worth going to if you want delicious Mexican food. I always order the Chimichangas! The servers provided fast and excellent customer service. Most importantly, Charanda is affordable and and offers mouth-watering Mexican dishes that keep me going back for more.

Better than average Mexican good. Cold beer and a cool atmosphere. The hot salsa with chips is awesome. Also, really nice (and separate) bar area.

Great food, great service, nice ambiance. Reasonable prices. One of the FEW Mexican restaurants I go to around here as I am kind of "picky".

Love the wings! Best in town

No complaints here....the food was hot and bountiful is an understatement. Shared a meal and still had to get a box!!! The service was friendly and attentive or maybe that's just the Southern hospitality that I miss out on in Indiana. My only tip is to skip the extra cost of the ultimate margaritas and settle on the house!

Not the cheapest prices I've had for Mexican which is why it is one star less but overall great tasty food, nice service, and big portions. Best Mexican in the Rock Hill area

I recently visited there (9/14/2011) and received excellent, friendly service and a delicious meal. I'm no "Mexican food expert" but I tend to think it's a step up from most restaurants of its type. The restaurant was packed with business folks, but our food arrived timely and hot. I had two newbies with me and they both recommended it to others the next day. My tea glass didn't go empty - very important! and we were all satisfied.

We eat at both the Manchester and Newport locations, once or twice per month. It's really good! My fave is burrito caliente, and husband's is pollo al chipotle. Service is always fast and friendly.

Charanda is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Rock Hill area. It does get crowded sometimes, but I usually go for a late lunch around 2, when there are hardly any other customers and the food is much more affordable.

Ask for the salsa verde with your chips. It's really spicy!

This place is getting a one, though the person that accompanied me insists that it deserves lower than one. I went to this place after work one day; was in the mood for Mexican, but being new to the Rock Hill area, I didn't know what was good. I passed by this restaurant and saw that it was full up, so I decided to drop in. There was a fifteen minute wait, but it was dinner rush so it was to be expected. The servers were pleasant, but very infrequent at our table. The nachos and salsa that were brought out prior to the meal were .... interesting. The nacho chips were fine, but the salsa was watery, like someone had watered down some tomato juice, added some tobasco sauce, and then threw a couple peppers in. Tasteless and thin. We ordered a jumbo margarita, which was good, but there was way too much ice and a handful of minutes later, much of it had melted into the margarita, making it just taste watery, salty, and vaguely limey. My friend got the enchiladas, which actually came with no enchilada sauce until about ten minutes later. The chicken in them was incredibly dry and stiff, and the rice was chewy and tasted old. The sauce that finally came tasted unlike any enchilada sauce I've ever had before, and not in a good way. It was a brown, sweet, molasses/bbq type substance. He couldn't finish his meal. Actually, he barely started it. I got a dish that was broiled chicken and vegetables in a 'light cream sauce'. When it came out, all I could see on the plate besides the rice was a sea of white. In the midst of the soup, was chicken and onions. I found two pieces of pepper, and one piece of tomato. The 'sauce' tasted like melted kraft singles mixed with milk. Unspiced and underseasoned, the entire thing was just a tasteless mass. My rice also tasted old. This meal wasn't just not worth the money, it just wasn't worth it. I'd like to say that I'd be back to follow up with a hopefully more positive review, but there are so many other amazing Mexican restaurants in both of the Carolinas that I don't think I want to waste my time.

Average mexican food. Had the Enchiladas Verdes - they were very good. The chips and salsa were good. The sauce was not real hot and/or spicey, but for me that's fine. Service was very good.

I sat down, then read the Yelp reviews. I began to worry. But there was no need to. The meal (Chicken Chimichanga, fried) was average or better, and the service was decent. The salsa was served in dishes too small to dip in, but it was better than average. It's not chunky (seems to be made in a blender) but the ingredients are fresh and it's tasty. Entree was overpriced by a couple of dollars.

Mmm!!! Many a birthday and girl's night and date night have I spent here! The best salsa in the greater Fort Mill, SC area. LOVE the chimichangas. Cool decor and great service! This is the restaurant I've compared all the Mexican food I can find in CA to, now that I've moved there. Nothing compares! Enjoy true, delicious Mexican food all you Rock Hill, South Carolinians! And next time I'm in town, you'll spot me here as many times as my visit allows!
